The Week in Polkadot: Community Gears Up for Polkadot Decoded

By Decrypt

Welcome to Decrypt’s Week in Polkadot, our regular round-up of the latest developments in the Polkadot ecosystem.

Polkadot Decoded is almost here

Billed as the biggest event in the Polkadot calendar, Polkadot Decoded is set to take place in Brussels, Belgium from July 11th to 12th.

This year’s edition of the international flagship conference for the Polkadot ecosystem will celebrate all facets of Polkadot and Kusama, combining both in-person and virtual experiences. Tickets for the event are still available, and you can check out a full agenda here.

Attendees can expect to see 100 speakers and 100 companies share their expertise across five stages, including keynote talks from Polkadot founder Gavin Wood. Ticket holders for EthCC, Europe’s largest Ethereum event, can register for free.

PolkaBot.AI ready to answer questions

AI-powered on-chain education bot PolkaBot.AI is now nearing full release. PolkaBot can answer any questions you have about Polkadot, based on information taken from verified sources within the ecosystem’s community. Unlike a traditional chatbot, it uses AI to construct a “decentralized knowledge graph” based on trusted inputs from the Polkadot community, for example, posts from verified members.

Knowledge graphs are advanced databases used by big tech companies such as Google, Amazon, Facebook, Twitter, and Uber to derive value from user data.

The AI bot is based on OriginTrail, a project which seeks to combine the power of blockchain with these knowledge graphs. Unlike a traditional chatbot, where it may be difficult to find out where the answer to your question originally came from, any output provided by OriginTrail is verifiable, traceable and stored on the NeuroWeb blockchain. The company says this could improve how data is managed, stored, and utilized.

OriginTrail’s clients include the British Standard Institution (BSI), SCAN Association, The World Federation of Hemophilia as well as the EU-funded SmartAgriHubs and Swiss Federal Railways. Professor Bob Metcalfe, inventor of Metcalfe’s law and co-inventor of Ethernet, serves as an advisor to the firm.

$100m venture capital CEO talks Polkadot ecosystem

News site PolkaDot Insider sat down with Max Rebol, CEO and co-founder of Habour Industrial Capital, a $100 million venture capital firm focused entirely on the Polkadot ecosystem, to discuss the hows and whys of investing in the Polkadot ecosystem in the long term.

Rebol discussed his expectations around what Agile Coretime will bring to the ecosystem, the benefits of investing in infrastructure rather than just speculating, and why he’s a believer in the future of DePIN start-ups such as Peaq.

The investor also talked about the importance of Asia and why decentralization is about community and more than just technology.

Substrate integrates Polkadot and Kusama

SubWallet, a non-custodial wallet built specifically for Ethereum and Polkadot, has become the first crypto wallet to integrate the new Polkadot and Kusama Network bridge.

Users will now be able to transfer their DOT and KSM between the Polkadot Asset Hub and Kusama Asset Hub for a small fee.

SubWallet is available to download for Android, iOS, and most major web browsers.
